
Technical Regional Category Manager

Position Purpose
The Technical Regional Category Manager is responsible for defining and executing the commercial strategy across all product categories and business units at a regional level. This role aims to maximize category profitability, inventory turnover, and customer satisfaction through comprehensive portfolio management, supplier negotiations, pricing strategies, promotions, and visual merchandising initiatives.
RequirementsEducation
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Preferred: MBA or Postgraduate Degree in Commercial Management, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Category Management, Purchasing, Merchandising, or Commercial Management within the retail industry.
- Proven experience managing large product portfolios, margins, inventory performance, and profitability analysis by SKU and product family.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Preferred: Previous experience in retail store operations, logistics, or supply chain management, providing a cross-functional business perspective.
- Category Management and Category Strategy Development.
- Sell-in / Sell-out analysis, inventory turnover, stock coverage, GMROI, and Open-to-Buy (OTB) management.
- Assortment planning and optimization (depth vs. breadth strategy).
- Pricing strategies, including elasticity-based, psychological, and competitive pricing.
- Promotional planning (TPR, bundles, markdowns, and seasonal campaigns).
- Visual merchandising and planogram development.
- Supplier evaluation, vendor management, and commercial negotiations.
- Advanced Excel and Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Strategic thinking with a strong customer-centric mindset.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Advanced negotiation and supplier relationship management capabilities.
- Portfolio management expertise with a focus on profitability and category performance.
- Cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management.
- Agility, adaptability, and execution excellence in fast-paced retail environments.
- Define and optimize category and subcategory assortments aligned with the company's commercial strategy.
- Develop annual and monthly purchasing plans in coordination with demand planning and inventory management teams.
- Lead pricing, promotional, and commercial campaign execution to drive sales and profitability.
- Monitor and optimize category performance indicators, including sales, margins, inventory turnover, stock availability, and out-of-stock rates.
- Manage supplier relationships, including commercial agreements, exclusivity partnerships, and product launches.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Marketing, Logistics, E-commerce, and Store Teams to ensure flawless execution across all channels.
- Identify innovation opportunities, private label initiatives, and portfolio differentiation strategies.
- Develop pricing and assortment strategies to strengthen competitive positioning in the market.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday.
- Location: La Libertad, El Salvador, with availability for regional travel and store visits.
